Response to Chapter 11 Question!

For both audio and visual technologies, identify one traditional and one emerging technology from the book, and explain how you could potentially use all four devices in the classroom.

A traditional form of technology that I could potentially use in my classroom would be a cassette player and earphones.  One way I could use this would be if I taped myself reading a book, the student could listen to my voice and be reading the book at the same time.  That way they are seeing and hearing the words.  An emerging audio technology I could use in my classroom would be voice-activated devices.  If a student in my classroom did not have very good coordination with their hands, they could use the voice activated device to search on the computer and go back and forth through web sites without ever having to click on anything.

A traditional visual technology I could use in my classroom would be a projector.  With a projector you can project books, projects, math problems, pictures, or anything else to show the classroom.  The projector projects the picture onto the dry erase board so the whole classroom can easily see it.  An emerging visual technology that I could use in the future would be handheld, or a touch screen iPod.  There are so many different applications that can be downloaded onto the iPods that would help the students in so many different areas involving their schooling.
